It is highly possible that if you do choose to become a bartender and you end up landing a bartending job at a popular club or bar, that your weekends will be spent at work, every weekend. After all, that is when these places are most crowded and the upside to this is, you could potentially make very large amounts of money working such hours in places like this. Bartenders need to know their area well, and how to perform their mixing duties when business heats up. The fact of the matter is really, it is a nice bonus if you get a really hot bartender, but only if they are also good with the customers and know how to fix every kind of drink that there is available.
If they aren't already familiar with the concept, they need to be able to up sell. Bartending can be a fun job, especially if you're a people person, but unlike their portrayals in movies, in real life, bartenders are not pseudo psychiatrists. Having the days off made it easy to look for another job and my income didn't suffer at all because I was bartending at night.
The world is waiting for your creations. It takes character and personality just to name a few other qualifications it takes to be a good bartender.
